Dr. Prapaporn Tivayanond Mongkhonvanit - Director
Dr. Prapaporn Tivayanond Mongkhonvanit is the Founding Director of Social Policy and Development Programme at Thammasat University. She has been a consultant at UNICEF (EAPRO) and UNRISD. She lectures and supervises research in areas of developmental welfare and social protection in Asia, social changes, and social entrepreneurship. She holds a doctorate degree in Social Policy from Oxford University and a BA(Hons) in Public Policy, Economic History, and International Relations from Victoria University of Wellington, New Zealand.
Dr. Jesper Kulvmann - SPD Professor
Jesper Kulvmann is a citizen of Denmark. He has worked in the health sector for many years, within Europe, the African continent and Greenland. He holds an MSc in public health from London School of Economics and he has studied social policy at the University of Oxford (PhD). His main academic interests are within welfare state studies and immigration.
Dr. Victor Karunan - SPD Lecturer/Foreign Expert
Victor Karunan is a Lecturer/Foreign Expert in the SPD programme and a Senior Visiting Professor in the M.A. and Ph.D programmes in International Development Studies at Chulalongkorn University and Human Rights, Democratization and Peace Studies at Mahidol University in Bangkok. He has previously worked 16 years with UNICEF, as Regional Advisor on Participation and Partnerships at UNICEF Regional Office in Bangkok, Chief of Adolescent Development and
Participation in UNICEF Headquarters in New York and as Deputy Representative and Senior Social Policy Specialist in UNICEF Malaysia. He holds a M.A. in Sociology from Jawaharlal Nehru University in New Delhi and a Ph.D. in the Social Sciences from the University of Nijmegen in the Netherlands.
Ms. Wilawan Srijandon (Lae) - SPD Officer
K. Wilawan is SPD's administrative officer. She completed her Bachelor's degree in Political Science from Chulalongkorn University and her Master's degree in Labour Policy from the Faculty of Social Administration, Thammasat University. She has extensive experience in the administrative work of Thammasat University, having been here for more than ten years. She handles with her team all of the day to day work of the program and has been with us since the first glorious days.

Ms. Amrit Virk Kaur - SPD Lecturer/ Foreign Expert
Amrit Kaur graduated with a DPhil in Social Policy from Oxford University. Her background includes receiving a Masters Degree in Development Studies at Cambridge University. She also consulted for the Indian government on health issues and social policy. Amrit V. Kaur joined SPD in 2014 and supervised our first batch of students. She was also our Chief Editor of SPD newsletters. Her expertise includes poverty, health and social policy.
Mr. Shekh Mohammad Altafur Rahman - SPD Lecturer/ Foreign Expert
Shekh Mohammad Altafur Rahman joined SPD International Programme in 2014. He received his doctorate degree in Human Rights and Peace Studies from from Mahidol University. The thesis focused on human security integration into national policy. He is a trained lawyer from Bangladesh. He teaches International Organizations and Human Rights at SPD Programme.
Mr. Quentin Batréau - SPD Lecturer and Internship Coordinator
Quentin Batréau is a French PhD student from Science Po. He has a master in urban studies and a Bachelor of political science (both from Science Po) and a Bachelor in Applied Mathematics from La Sorbonne. He has spent most of the past 5 years in Bangkok where he now does research on refugee issues.
He joined SPD in 2015 and is in charge of outreach and partnerships, as well as teaching on topics related to sociology, political science and urban issues.
Ms. Sarah Orleans Reed - SPD Lecturer/Foreign Expert
Sarah O. Reed was a Macmillan fellow when she obtained her Master's degree on Environment and Development from the University of Edinburgh. Prior to that, she completed her Bachelor's degree with Honors from Wesleyan University in History. Before joining SPD International Programme in 2016, her professional experiences include having work at Oxfam (GB), Mercy Corps Uganda, UNDP, and Asia Foundation (Vietnam).
Sarah O. Reed taught Globalization and International Development to our students. She contributed greatly to our exchange programme.
